“THERE ARE NO SHADOWS IN LA” Prints
To paint the passage of time Is an interesting task—to imbue a picture with a solid sense of place, but shifting time. A painting contains the possibility of watching time pass and capturing it in a single object. The song There Are No Shadows In LA conjured up that passage of time, the sense of timelessness and yet time slipping away. In the song and the painting time and light are metaphors for life in Los Angeles, specifically here in Venice Beach. I wanted to bring together the dawn of possibility, the stark midday, and the melancholy of twilight all in one painting.
